The Queensland branch's biggest event is the annual Queensland Physics Lecture Tour, run jointly by the AIP and Education Queensland, which this year will be given by astrophysicist Dr. Peter Firth. Dr Firth will be giving interactive talks to senior school students and running professional development workshops for teachers on astronomy in the context of high school physics. The tour runs for over two weeks from the 3rd to the 17th of August and and will come to Brisbane, the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, Toowoomba, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg, Gladstone, Rockhampton, Townsville and Mt Isa.
